This is my favorite book of the Harmony series so far – and its book 19! The nightmare-themed mystery has just the right balance of romance and suspense along with an exceptional dust bunny! It’s a gem!

Alice grew up an orphan at the Ballantine Academy where she went to school and then later became a teacher. When her mentor died, the school was sold and she moved to Illusion Town to work for a dream clinic. She grew up sheltered and a little naïve but I really liked her. She is lighthearted and has the best dust bunny named Sebastian. I can’t divulge all the fun things Sebastian gets up to but I can share that he is a protective sweetie and he made me laugh.

Ten months ago, Alice was kidnapped and put in an asylum. She was told that she had married a man but that they think she murdered him and was a danger to herself and others. But she can’t remember much about her husband or why she even married him. Luckily, she was able to escape.

Seven months later, Alice is kidnapped again and taken to the Hotel of Dreams. This time, Owen comes to her rescue. He was hired to track her down, but once he realizes she’s innocent, he decides to help her. He’s also been seeing her in his dreams and is intriigued by her.

There is a mystery of who is behind the kidnappings and why they have targeted Alice. Both she and Owen have strong psychic talents and agree to work together to unravel the mystery. Alice is resilient, caring and one of my favorite heroines in the Harmony world. Owen suggests that if she marries him, he can better protect her. She agrees because she needs his help and Sebastian trusts him. (Sebastian’s good at detecting danger.)

This had just the right balance of romance and suspense and while I wasn’t always able to follow all of Harmony’s history, a brief summary is included which helped. Jayne Castle is my go-to author for comfort reads and this book hit all the right spots!
