Y’all have picked Fool Me Twice by a large swath of votes!
It’s by the storied Meredith Duran–we’re SO blue she’s currently not writing–and Blythe gave it a fairly happy B+.
We’ll discuss it on Monday, August 23rd.
Happy reading!

This year the AAR staff posted 16 Best of 2016 Lists. We chose books from every genre and, in romance, from every sub-genre. And while it’s safe to say we don’t all share the same taste in books, there were some books that appeared on more than one list. As will surprise no one who…
I review books for a living — which these days makes me something of an anachronism. Reviews, once a way to think out loud about art, are increasingly treated as just another genre of marketing. Public declarations of enthusiasm have replaced engagement. Five stars have become the default. And somewhere in all that cheerleading, we’ve…
Critics of romance novels often cite a long list of problems with the books and one of the most frequently used is that the books are formulaic. Some authors embrace that idea and give a guide to what they think of as “the formula” such as Paula Graves or Rita Clay Estrada and Rita Gallagher. Others like Anne Gracie heartily…

Weird confession: I struggle with stories where all the children have extremely distinctive names. I attribute this to growing up in a town with an infamous family who had six children and the elder five all had long unusual names that began with the letter R–there was one of these and one of these, just…
Today, we are running a review by Elaine S, a regular commenter at AAR. She’d contacted me and suggested we consider reader reviews which, historically, we have published but in recent years haven’t had any. To say I was thrilled with her suggestion would be an understatement.
It was a clear DIK for me when I read it 🙂
I just finished this AGAIN yesterday, and it is so good. I’m hopeful about future work, but glad we have thirteen titles to enjoy more than once.
Is it official that MD is no longer writing?!!? Like, I know she hasn’t written in a while but… I still hold out hope! Her books are just so dang good.
Note the new date for this!
I have to go re-read this, I read it quite some time ago but unlike many of her other books the details have not stuck with me.
I am rereading it now. Her writing is so deft.
