Y’all have picked Fool Me Twice by a large swath of votes!
It’s by the storied Meredith Duran–we’re SO blue she’s currently not writing–and Blythe gave it a fairly happy B+.
We’ll discuss it on Monday, August 23rd.
Happy reading!

The two best selling fiction works at Amazon in 2023 were Fourth Wing and Iron Flame both of which are–and I so don’t love this mashup–romantasy. Also in the top 25 was A Court of Thorn and Roses–that whole series sold a boatload. If you look at just the best-sellers in romance, romantasy ruled on…
We’re more than halfway through 2024–where DOES the time go? Thus far, AAR reviewers have designated 59 books (out of 178 reviewed) as DIKs. Two have received the rare grade of A+: Bridesmaid for Hire by Megan Quinn and The Perfect Find by Tia Williams. (Not all of the books we’ve reviewed have been romances.)…
The best part of RWA’s annual conference is, for me, getting to talk with authors I love. I’ve been lucky enough to have lunch with Rachel Grant the past few RWAs we’ve both been at. This year, we had so much fun that I forgot to take a picture of her. So you’ll have to…
It’s time to discuss our first book club choice, Jennifer Crusie’s Manhunting. Here’s our DIK review from 1999 and here’s a readers’ guide from Crusie. This is the first novel Crusie wrote–have you read others? How do you think this one holds up?

Welcome to our Pandora’s Box on Meredith Duran’s Luck Be a Lady. They call her the “Ice Queen.” Catherine Everleigh is London’s loveliest heiress, but a bitter lesson in heartbreak has taught her to keep to herself. All she wants is her birthright—the auction house that was stolen from her. To win this war, she’ll…
It was a clear DIK for me when I read it 🙂
I just finished this AGAIN yesterday, and it is so good. I’m hopeful about future work, but glad we have thirteen titles to enjoy more than once.
Is it official that MD is no longer writing?!!? Like, I know she hasn’t written in a while but… I still hold out hope! Her books are just so dang good.
Note the new date for this!
I have to go re-read this, I read it quite some time ago but unlike many of her other books the details have not stuck with me.
I am rereading it now. Her writing is so deft.
