I just finished a contemporary romance that has lots going for it. It’s oftentimes hilarious, it has an appealing himbo hero, and an interesting locale. On those merits, I’d give the novel a B. But, when I finished it, I was shaking my head and thinking hard pass. Why? Well, in the first sex scene…
Yesterday’s Steals and Deals offered a twofer: Linda Howard’s Dream Man and After The Night, bound in one book. It was fascinating to read the reviews and the comments on these two books. Several readers found Howard’s sexual politics deeply offensive. Others adore her macho men and terrifyingly creepy villains. AAR has reviewed Howard 35…
I wasn’t even sure I’d find the time to write my annual holiday letter this year. Whoa Daisy, 2014 was a busy year. Between getting married to the love of my life and finding my perfect, fulfilling and oh so rewarding career, I’ve barely had time to watch Scandal! As I’m sure you recall, at the…
Here is my goal for 2026: Fail. I’m going to fail to start listening to podcasts because, frankly, I like my own thoughts and the sound of very little. I’m going to fail to do more at work–I’m giving up some big things and focusing, instead, on lesser ones that give me more unstructured time….
I’ve spent a lot of time on planes and airports lately. An upside of this has been more time to read. Yay! I finally finished listening to Leigh Bardugo’s duo, Six of Crows and The Crooked Kingdom. I’d not read Bardugo before and, whoa, have I missed out. (I’m now listening to the Shadow and…
We asked you what the worst romance novel you’ve read this year is and, with a few exceptions, you all nominated different reads that didn’t work for you. Several of the nominated books have gotten high grades here at AAR which goes to show that in reading–as in 7th grade school photos (that is…
Wow! I voted for the winner but never expected it would be the one. Look forward to reading it and the discussion next month.
For any audio listeners out there, I think this one is even better (and I would give it an A in book form) in audio! So good.
With Nicholas Boulton as narrator,I can only imagine!
I am excited about this one although all three are books I’ve enjoyed.
I actually own this and have never read it yet so I’m excited. I really would have been happy with most of the choices offered. I haven’t read a good Medieval story in quite a while so I have high hopes for this one! Looking forward to the discussion!
I love a good Medieval!
I’m looking forward to reading, well listening, to this again and participating in the discussion.
I lost track of time for this! Let’s discuss it on December 9th!
Works for me.
I had all three of the series in the cloud and thanks to the coming discussion I reread all three and enjoyed them more the second time around!see you on December 9th.
